I wanted to be a dentist since I was about 7 or 8 years old. Don’t know why. I’ve had older people tell me that I had told them I was going to be a dentist at that age. I’m living my dream. Enjoy what I do, enjoy working with these lovely ladies every day, and I enjoy all my patients and being able to provide treatment for them to make their lives better.
It’s rewarding whenever everything goes well. Sometimes you have a tough case that have some difficult problems that doesn’t work out the way you would hope, and I’ll spend two or three nights dreaming about it and stressing over it because it really, really bothers me. But whenever, on a typical day, everything goes well and whenever we do work and the patient gets up from the chair and smiles and says, “That was painless and that was wonderful,” and they are looking at their smile and they can’t believe how good it looks, then that makes my day.
Dr. Barry Wilson
After Dr. Barry Wilson graduated from dental school, he began working with his childhood dentist and mentor, Dr. Gary Smith. Dr. Wilson bought the practice from Dr. Smith in 2000 and has continued delivering the same high-quality dental care that we’ve been associated with since 1978.
A 1988 graduate of Marshall County High School, he majored in biology and minored in chemistry at Murray State University. During his third year at Murray, he applied to the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and was accepted on his first application. He graduated from UKCD in 1995.
He has three beautiful children: Brandon, Brooke, and Justin. He also has a grandson, Merrick. Dr. Wilson lives in Draffenville with his loving wife Emily and their four dachshunds. Emily rescues dachshunds and finds new homes for them.
During his free time, he enjoys working out at the gym and restoring old vehicles.
